It sounds strange, but that really is how it works. Generally speaking, the party that applies 3D-Secure is relieved of liability for unauthorized payments. To be completely clear, the party that has not implemented 3D-Secure will be liable and exposed to the risk of chargebacks resulting from unauthorized transactions.

AllSecure processes both 3D-Secure and non-3D-Secure transactions, depending on the requirements of the merchant and its acquiring bank. In most cases, we encourage merchants to apply 3D-Secure to every transaction. We especially recommend this to those who sell “digital” products (games, virtual goods, e-books, downloadable software applications, instant account top-ups or other related services) and any products that are delivered immediately upon payment.

We help merchants in both cases, whether or not they apply 3D-Secure. We take preventive measures by scanning customer behavior during card payments. We analyze every transaction in depth, detecting any behavior that may look “fraudulent” and assigning negative points to such transactions. All of this greatly protects the customer, but the liability matrix for using / not using 3D-Secure remains.

We have established that, for merchants and acquiring banks, all 3D-Secure transactions should be secure and free of chargebacks due to unauthorized use, but this does not mean that the card-issuing bank will not face problems with fraudulent transactions.

Our system recently detected (and stopped) several attempted fraudulent 3D-Secure transactions originating from abroad. The cause was an incorrect 3D-Secure implementation by the issuing bank. Several methods of implementing 3D-Secure on the card itself have become common in different countries. A frequent example is sending an SMS containing a one-time PIN to the cardholder’s registered phone. In this scenario, a fraudulent transaction is possible when the issuer uses a default value or always the same password to authenticate the cardholder. There have also been cases of SMS messages containing the password being intercepted.

Regardless of all these ways of “breaching” 3D-Secure transactions, what matters is that in every such case, the merchant and the issuing bank still bear no liability because of the previously mentioned system of shifting liability to the issuing bank.

Glavna i najvažnija stvar koju trgovac treba da zna u vezi 3D-Secure transakcijama je sistem prebacivanja odgovornosti.

[1

post-1211","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
